Birmingham-based emerging artist Alfresco Love Sounds’ first single, Wishful Thinking, from the forthcoming album *Pigeon Synergy.*

Press

‘Alfresco Love Sounds convey a desire for their art to move people. Listening to Wishful Thinking, this comes through clearly. It feels as though there is a constant desire for sound, and art more broadly, to find resonance in someone else, somewhere else, despite the surrounding chaos’ - Giulia Zampori, PublicPressure, 2026

About ‘Wishful Thinking’

Wishful Thinking explores the idea of how being an artist is to be a wishful thinker. Wishing for your art to move people, wishing to be heard and wishing to share your human experiences with others in the same situation or with similar feelings.

It also reflects on the discomfort that can sometimes come when exposing your true self, in life and in art. The vulnerability that comes with that, and how sometimes you have to peel yourself off the floor and get back up again.

Recording process

Wishful Thinking was originally written as part of February Album Writing Month (FAWM). Tom collaborated with Kevin Woodruff on the recording, a drummer based in Portland, Oregon. Kevin re-recorded the drums with more grit and slack energy, and this led to a transatlantic partnership that blossomed into further collaboration on the upcoming album.

Lyrics

I’m waking up now,

Peeling my face off of the ground

I’ve been lying awake for far too long
